Villa Petrognano is just an unbelievable property in the heart of Chiantishire, just 3 kilometers from the charming Chianti village of Barberino Val di Pesa, about a third of the way towards Siena from Florence. You can be in Florence in about 30 minutes from this location via the nearby 4-lane highway, about 45 minutes to Siena in the other direction. But we’ll bet that for most of your excursions, you won’t want to use the highway at all, choosing instead to meander around some of Tuscany’s most beautiful backroads, to places like San Gimignano, Certaldo, Castellina, Radda, and Gaiole. Not to mention art destinations like Arezzo, Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa, and many more.
Activities? Consider for starters: wine tasting; truffle and mushroom hunting; cycling; trekking; cooking lessons; outlet shopping; music festivals; dining from family-style trattorie to Michelin-starred gourmet experiences; nearby tennis, golf, and hot-air ballooning; and much, much more.
Petrognano is a villa for all sorts of groups: multiple couples; one extended family; several small families traveling together; or a group of single friends.
The villa itself? It’s composed of two adjacent structures, a 1000-year-old stone tower plus a haybarn now connected to the tower by an ingenious glass breezeway. Click on the Property details tab for full info, but suffice it to say that we’re talking about a child-friendly villa without an unacceptable bedroom, large and comfortable interior spaces where people can either spend all their time together or be able to get away from the group when solitude is required. Views are among the best we have ever seen in our quarter-century of doing business. And the owners, who live year-round just a few kilometers away, are just fantastic as well, eager to make your stay a perfect one.
